State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash about 4pm Wednesday afternoon that resulted in a fatality on Route 3 near Chummy Lane in King George County.
Authorities say a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by 73-year old Michael McMahan of Colonial Beach was traveling eastbound on Route 3 when it crossed the centerline into westbound traffic striking a trash truck. The impact then caused the Jeep to partially overturn and strike a tractor-trailer.
McMahan succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt. The other drivers were not injured. This crash remains under investigation.
