Virginia State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a vehicle that caused a crash Monday (March 4) in Orange County.
State police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:50 a.m. on Route 20 at Rhoades Road.
An unknown vehicle was traveling west on Route 20 when it attempted to pass a vehicle that stopped to make a left turn. As the unknown vehicle attempted the pass in the eastbound lane, it caused a 1999 Ford Ranger that was traveling east to run off the right side of the roadway. As a result, the Ford overcorrected crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2020 Ram utility van.
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old male of Orange was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the Ford, a 20-year-old female suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Ram, a 41-year-old male of Fredericksburg suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Three adult passengers in the Ram suffered minor injuries were transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. All three were wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
