The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office for the week of Feb. 12-18.
- Public Intoxication: Kendrick Court, deputy responded for the 3rd time to a disturbance outside a residence. It was discovered the suspect and her romantic interest were having a loud disagreement. After confirming no physical altercation took place, the suspect was arrested for public intoxication. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. IHOP, deputy responded to a suspicious person call. Staff advised a male was “passed out” within the business. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Wawa, deputies responded to a disturbance. Staff advised there was a male in the parking lot with red panties on his face. The suspect had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and deputies observed he had glassy, bloodshot eyes. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Columbus Drive, deputy responded to assist Aquia Harbour Police Officers on a disturbance call. The caller advised a known intoxicated female left the residence in an angry state. The deputy made contact with the suspect on a public roadway and discovered she was intoxicated. She was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
- Warrant Served: At the intersection of Warrenton Road & I-95 Southbound, deputy was traveling on Warrenton Road when he observed a vehicle that had no registration. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver was discovered to not only have a revoked license, but was wanted out of Stafford County for a probation violation. During an inventory search of the vehicle, suspected controlled substances were located. The driver was charged with two (2) counts of possession of controlled substances, driving with a revoked license, driving an unregistered vehicle, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Amy’s Café, deputy responded to a disturbance. While the disturbance was unfounded, the deputy did find out one of the people that was present was wanted by the U.S. Marshals for a probation violation. He was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail without incident and was held without bond. Providence Street, deputy was in the area for an unrelated matter when he observed a vehicle involved in a brandishing incident from Feb. 2. Due to that incident, the registered owner was wanted for brandishing a firearm. The deputy was able to locate the suspect and detain him. Within the vehicle was ammunition, unlawful for the suspect to possess due to him being a convicted felon. The suspect was served on his outstanding warrant, as well as, charged with weapon possession by a felon. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
- Fraud: Target, deputy responded to a fraud where the victim advised her credit cards were fraudulently used. The suspect forgot Target had security cameras which got a good look at the suspect.
- Hit and Run: Dollar General, a victim reported her vehicle was struck and damaged while she was inside the business.
- Vandalism: North Stafford High School, deputy discovered multiple bathrooms vandalized while conducting his SRO duties.
- DUI: At the intersection of Centreport Parkway & I-95 Northbound, deputy was traveling in the area when he heard a vehicle with a loud exhaust. The deputy conducted a traffic stop as an additional deputy responded to assist. The driver had signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking “two beers and two shots” prior to driving, and didn’t think he would pass field sobriety tests. It was also discovered he had a revoked license due to a previous DUI, and open containers of alcohol were located in the vehicle. He was charged with driving under the influence 2nd offense within five years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, driving with a revoked license, drinking and driving, and having a loud exhaust. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. CVS, deputy was traveling on Garrisonville Road when he observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver had no driver’s license, no registration, clear signs of intoxication, and admitted to consuming two (2) beers before driving. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to travel on the right side of the road. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
- Larceny: Walmart, 125 Washington Square Plaza, deputy responded to a larceny. Staff advised two (2) males stole TVs the day prior. YMCA, deputy responded to two (2) vehicle larcenies. In both cases, the victim had their purse stolen from their vehicle and their credit cards attempted to be used at a nearby Walmart. Target, deputy responded to a larceny. Staff advised a male suspect stole over $1,000 worth of items. The suspect fled the scene in a dark Jeep Wrangler. Target, deputy also responded to an additional larceny. Staff advised a habitual shoplifter had returned. The female suspect stole over $100 worth of items before being caught. Home Depot, deputy responded to a larceny. Staff advised a rental vehicle that was supposed to be returned last month was still not in their possession. The suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing. Jeff Rouse Center, deputy responded to a larceny. The victim had his wallet stolen from his vehicle. Witnesses advised approximately seven (7) juveniles were seen fleeing from the vehicle.
- Assault: Brooke Point High School, deputy was conducting his SRO duties when he was informed of an assault. It was advised that two (2) students were attempting to fight. As staff attempted to de-escalate the situation, one of the students assaulted them. A criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed. Rappahannock Regional Jail, deputy responded to an assault. One inmate assaulted another after a disagreement. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital due to his injuries. The suspect was charged with malicious wounding, as well as, assault and battery. Rappahannock Regional Jail, deputy responded to an assault. It was discovered an inmate assaulted a correctional officer after a debate over a tablet. A warrant for felony assault and battery on a correctional officer was obtained. Bank of America, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance with a weapon. The victim advised she was assaulted, strangled, and had a weapon brandished by her romantic partner in the parking lot. While the suspect fled the scene, a deputy later located the suspect at Circle K, located at 34 Prosperity Lane. He was detained and a firearm was seized. He was charged with assault and battery, strangulation, and carrying a concealed weapon. Wawa, deputy responded to a disturbance. The victim advised he was in the parking lot when he was assaulted by a female who stole his cash. The female suspect, with the help of a male suspect, fled the scene in a black pick-up truck with California plates.
- Traffic Offense; 7-Eleven, deputy was waiting in traffic when he observed a truck at a red light attempt a three-point turn. After witnessing the traffic infraction, the deputy conducted a traffic stop. The driver was discovered to have no driver’s license. After contacting the vehicle’s registered owner, it was also discovered the suspect did not have authorization to use the vehicle. He was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving without a license, and disregarding a red light.
- Trespass: 7-Eleven, deputy responded to a trespassing. An unwelcome guest returned after being told not to. The deputy discovered this wanderer was already wanted for trespassing at this location. Deputies were able to locate the suspect at a nearby motel. The suspect was served on his outstanding trespassing warrant, as well as another. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
- Scam Alert: Victim advised her social security number was used to obtain employment through DoorDash. Victim became aware of the situation when she received a 1099 in the mail for $17000 worth of earnings from DoorDash, with her name and address on it. Victim was contacted by someone calling from the phone number (443)-918-7263 representing themselves as being with Wells Fargo. The alleged Wells Fargo agent told the victim that he had a fraudulent transaction and that he needed to secure his funds. He was told he could do this by putting his funds onto an Apple gift card. The victim said he was told this was a more secure way of transferring his money into another account. The victim was provided identifying information from the caller, such as agent name, phone number, badge numbers, etc. This made the victim believe he was speaking to a real representative from Wells Fargo. The victim stayed on the phone for approximately 2 hours while he purchased a $400 Apple gift card and provided the gift card number to the scammer over the phone. The caller advised the victim they would receive a call from an investigator with the Fredericksburg Police Department the next day, but the call never came. Victim was contacted via WhatsApp by an individual named “Amy Christian”. Victim stated “Amy” informed the company named Work Source Inc. that was looking for staffing urgently. Victim stated he was then contacted by “Valeria” via WhatsApp after being forwarded by “Amy” who assisted the victim in setting up his profile on the website. “Valeria” also assisted the victim on how to set up a crypto account for payments; which included the victim’s personal information. The victim was then instructed by “Valeria” to deposit his money into a crypto wallet that she assisted him in setting up; the victim deposited various amounts of money over two weeks totaling approximately $68,000. Victim then became suspicious and requested the money back, however, “Amy and Valeria” have blocked him.
