Stafford Fire and Rescue says just before 6:00 P.M. on Easter Sunday, crews from the county and Fredericksburg Fire Department responded for a structure fire in the 400 block of Smith
Street near the intersection of Brooke Road.
Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Katie Brady says first arriving units were on the scene about 5 minutes later. She says the fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.
Brady says two neighbors were able to alert the one occupant in the home before fire units arrived. The neighbors were evaluated on scene for minor smoke inhalation.
Brady says five people lived in the home. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross. She says the fire is under routine investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office.
