The off-ramp from southbound Interstate 95 to Route 1 at Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
The ramp will be closed for paving. It is one of the final construction activities for a VDOT project building a second right-turn lane on this off-ramp and making other improvements to southbound Route 1 and Southpoint Parkway. The $15.9 million project is scheduled to be complete no later than August.
Southbound I-95 motorists who normally use Exit 126 are encouraged to use Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg or Exit 118 (Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County during the overnight closure.
If inclement weather cancels the planned ramp closure, it will be rescheduled to occur from 11 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.
