An old rivalry will be played on new turf Tuesday evening when the University of Virginia and University of Maryland baseball programs battle at Virginia Credit Union Stadium, home of the Fredericksburg Nationals.

The Cavaliers and Terrapins were longtime Atlantic Coast Conference rivals before Maryland departed to the Big Ten in 2014.

The first pitch is scheduled for 5;35 p.m. The contest marks the first time the stadium hosted a college baseball game. The Cavaliers (9-5), who advanced to the College World Series in three of the past four years, are ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division I rankings. Maryland won 34 games last year, but is off to an 8-7 start this season.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m.
