- Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Vice President Renee Haltom said her organization is keeping a close eye on the possible economic impacts of federal layoffs that have occurred since the start of the year. She noted that Stafford County is among the most at-risk counties in the country to feel the effects due to its high number of federal workers. Haltom made the comments Tuesday, during a business luncheon organized by the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the Virginia Credit Union Stadium. During a question-and-answer session at the luncheon, Atlantic Builders CEO Adam Fried said home sales have slowed noticeably since the start of the year, and he said builders won’t be able to pass along increased costs from new federal tariffs.
- Aspetto Inc., a Virginia-based manufacturer of tactical gear and provider of cybersecurity and IT services for defense agencies, will relocate and expand its local headquarters. Aspetto will move from its current home in Fredericksburg to a 5,300-square-foot office space at 150 Riverside Parkway in Stafford as well as an adjacent 3,000-square-foot manufacturing warehouse. The Governor’s Office distributed an announcement late last week.
- Stafford has published the application details for the proposed Blaisdell data center campus with about 1.5 million square feet of buildings on about 181 acres of undeveloped, wooded land just south of U.S. 17, north of the Rappahannock River and east of Interstate 95 along Olde Forge Drive in Stafford County. A rezoning, Comprehensive Plan amendment, and conditional use permit are required for the project. The applicant is TC Blaisdell Owner LLC. An electrical transmission line runs through the property, which isn’t far from the historic Gari Melchers Home and Studio (Belmont).
- There were 112 homes sold in the Fredericksburg region last week, including three for more than $1 million, according to data from the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors. Check back weekly for the new list.
- Catlett LLC last month purchased the 8,320-square-foot, 1.07-acre Family Dollar property at 2017 Lafayette Blvd. in Fredericksburg from Longshore Investments LLC for $1,923,556, according to Fredericksburg land records.
- Schulz Fredericksburg LLC purchased the 6,094-square-foot, 1.1-acre Hacienda El Patron property at 2805 Plank Road in Fredericksburg from an affiliate of MCB Real Estate for $1.64 million, according to Fredericksburg land records.

Skechers will open its Fredericksburg store Thursday. The 8,700-square-foot store will be at 1370 Carl D. Silver Parkway in Central Park near Hobby Lobby. River Rock Outfitter plans to open its second location nearby in early April.
