Stafford Fire and Rescue battled a fire Saturday night in the 00 block of Deene Court near Choptank Road. Spokeswoman Katie Brady says around 7:40 pm the call came in. She says units were on the scene less than five minutes later. She says smoke was observed coming from the front of the single family home, with heavy fire coming from the attic and basement on the side and rear of the structure.
Brady says the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. During a search of the structure, crews rescued two cats. Both cats were subsequently revived and turned over to their owners once their condition improved. All occupants were evacuated prior to the arrival of units. Two residents were transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. In total, five adults and one juvenile were displaced.The residents are being
assisted by the American Red Cross.
Brady says the fire is under investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office. Crews were assisted on scene by Quantico Fire and Emergency Services.
