An 18-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound was found Monday night in the backseat of a disabled vehicle on the sidewalk in the 5300 block of Whispering Woods Lane in Spotsylvania County.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. They questioned multiple people who were standing around the vehicle and learned that the victim was in the back seat. They immediately began rendering medical aid to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital via ambulance. She is listed in stable condition.
An investigation revealed that the woman was shot inside an apartment complex. Deputies say she claimed not to know who shot her, as did the people surrounding the vehicle. Their investigation is ongoing, and detectives are hopeful witnesses will come forward.
