The Fredericksburg area’s third Publix grocery store will open at 7 a.m. Dec. 12.
The finishing touches are being placed on the 48,387-square-foot grocery store at 5940 Plank Road in Spotsylvania County — near the Royal Oaks subdivision and the intersection with Spotswood Furnace Road. The store will employ about 140 people.
The new Publix is part of The Morgan Companies’ Chancellor Crossing project. Additional commercial space is being built at Chancellor Crossing; announced co-tenants include Panera Bread, Virginia Credit Union, Lee Nails, Habit Burger Grill, Heartland Dental and BeMobile. Additional space is available.
The other two area Publix stores are at Cosner’s Corner in Spotsylvania and the Embrey Mill Town Center in Stafford County.
As is the case at Chancellor Crossing, the new Publix-anchored shopping center at Embrey Mill has seen significant additional commercial activity recently. Businesses that have opened near the Embrey Mill Publix include Five Guys, Crimson Coward, Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s, Chipotle, Panera, Wawa, McDonald’s, AT&T, AutoZone and a Mary Washington Healthcare facility offering medical imaging, medical laboratories, physical therapy, primary care, obstetrics and gynecology, and urgent care.
