The cafe formerly known as Italian Station has closed in Downtown Fredericksburg, but it will re-open soon with a new name.
The business at 620 Caroline St. — inside the Courtyard by Marriott building — closed Saturday night and will likely remain closed for a couple of weeks during a renovation. The temporary closing has created a buzz on social media.
The new business will be solely owned by Anita Crossfield, who managed Italian Station and had a percentage of ownership. Crossfield also serves on Fredericksburg’s Economic Development Authority and is a well-known member of the downtown business community.
Crossfield is still finalizing the name, but it will have “Anita” in it. She said the business will be “similar but different” when it re-opens; it will remain a cafe with a community feel.
