The Sheriff’s Office says on November 7th deputies executed a search warrant on a home on Norman Road for a report of stolen property. A Facebook post says they also had received a tip about cockfighting events on the property. During the first search, many chickens were found.
The Sheriff’s Office says a second search warrant found 80 game fowl chickens, controlled substances, equipment and weaons used for cockfighting..
47-year old Sergio Munoz of Stafford was charged with five counts of felony animal fighting. He’s being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. The Sheriff’s Office says he was not part of the original search warrant.
The Sheriff’s Office says a seizure hearing granted Animal Control custody of the chickens. They were taken to the Stafford Animal Shelter. All are all scheduled to see a vet while the shelter looks for long-term care. Photos: Stafford County Sheriff’s Office
