Michael Creamer scored three touchdowns to lead the Stafford High School football team to a 38-0 Commonwealth District win over Mountain View in the regular-season finale for both squads on Friday night.
Among Creamer’s scores was a 79-yard run that gave the host Indians (9-1 overall, 5-1 district) a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Stafford quarterback Zion Gray also accounted for two TDs—one on a 27-yard run and another on a pass to KJ Morton.
With the victory, the Indians clinched a share of the district championship along with North Stafford and Riverbend. Stafford is projected as the No. 3 seed in the Region 6B playoffs, which begin next Friday. The Virginia High School League will announce playoff pairings on Sunday.
Mountain View ends its season at 4-6, 2-4.
North Stafford 27, Colonial Forge 17
The Wolverines held off the visiting Eagles to claim a share of the Commonwealth District title.
Micah Brown ran for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, one of which was set up by an interception he recorded from his defensive back position, to give North (8-2, 5-1) a commanding 27-3 lead with 8:49 left in the game.
Wolverines’ quarterback Chase Sullivan completed 11 of 16 passes for 134 yards with one score and an interception.
Forge quarterback Brock Brimhall went 11 of 27 for 143 yards, two TDs and a pair of interceptions. Both of his scoring strikes came in the final period—a 39-yard connection with Darion Majeed and a 25-yard hookup with Jake Ashinhurst.
North is projected as the No. 2 seed in the Region 6B playoffs, while Forge (7-3, 3-3) is sixth.
Riverbend 42, Massaponax 28
JoJo Thomas ran for two touchdowns, and Mekhi Davis returned a kickoff 90 yards and an interception 70 yards, both for scores, as the host Bears earned a share of the Commonwealth District crown.
Riverbend (7-3, 5-1) also clinched the No. 1 seed in the Region 5D playoffs with the win. The Bears will have a first-round bye next Friday and home-field advantage throughout regionals.
Gabe Newby-Morris rushed for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Panthers (1-9, 0-6), who are still in play for the sixth and final postseason berth in Region 5D.
King George 35, Chancellor 0
Charles Johnson scored four touchdowns to buoy the Foxes to a victory over the visiting Chargers.
Johnson caught scoring passes of 54 and 46 yards from quarterback Dylan Koch, ran for a 3-yard touchdown and returned an interception 28 yards for a score.
In addition to his two connections with Johnson, Koch also threw a 30-yd scoring pass to Ky’Mani Carpenter.
The win gave King George (8-2, 7-0) the outright Battlefield District championship for the fifth season in a row. The Foxes are also the projected No. 4 seed in the upcoming Region 4B playoffs.
Chancellor wraps up its campaign at 2-8, 2-6.
Eastern View 23, Courtland 21
AP Hull’s 2-yard touchdown run with 2:16 remaining lifted the host Cyclones to a Battlefield District victory over the Cougars.
In addition to his game-winner, Hull also threw a 16-yard scoring strike to Deandre Brock that gave Eastern View (7-3, 7-1) a 17-14 advantage midway through the third quarter.
Christian Olivella scored all three touchdowns for Courtland (7-3, 6-2). His last came with 7 seconds left in the third period, giving the Cougars a 21-17 lead.
Eastern View is projected as the sixth seed in the Region 4B playoffs, while Courtland is No. 5.
Caroline 42, James Monroe 14
The Cavaliers secured their first winning season since 2008 by routing the visiting Yellow Jackets.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Caroline, which ended its season with a 6-4 record — identical to the Cavaliers’ mark 16 years ago.
James Monroe (3-7, 1-6 Battlefield) moves on to the Region 3B playoffs, where it is expected to visit Armstrong.
Caroline (6-4, 4-3) rushed for 303 yards to earn the win in its season finale. Senior running back Vladimir Joacin Jr. powered his way to 151 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Cavaliers’ defense scored on two interception returns for scores—a 32-yarder from defensive end Ty’Eir Williams and a 69-yard return by senior defensive back Malik Johnson. Johnson also ran for 88 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Tre Coles from his quarterback position.
Caroline led 21-0 at halftime after Joacin’s 60-yard run, Williams’ return and a 9-yard scoring scamper by Joacin—all in the first quarter.
Joacin added a 48-yard TD run for a 28-0 third-quarter advantage. The Jackets got on the board in the fourth period on a 13-yard TD run by Kamrin Kea and a 1-yard plunge from Jamie Martino.
