The City of Fredericksburg’s satellite visitor center will operate inside the downtown Courtyard Marriott from Oct. 24 –31, until the new location on the first floor of Executive Plaza opens its doors on Nov. 1. A formal ribbon cutting is planned for January.

According to a news release from the city, the new location at 601 Caroline St. is significantly larger, more modern and more ADA accessible. The former visitor’s center site at 706 Caroline St. — which the city’s Economic Development Authority sold in May for $1.337 million — closed Wednesday.

Last year, the City of Fredericksburg welcomed $151 million in tourism expenditures locally, surpassing pre-pandemic (2019) numbers for the first time.

The new location will feature expanded displays with information about the city’s tourism partners, such as Fredericksburg Nationals, National Park Service, University of Mary Washington, Heritage Museums sites, arts, food scene, lodging and entertainment venues. A larger exhibit room is more accessible for group tours.

Parking is available in the public parking garage adjacent to Executive Plaza, and the new visitor’s center is also within view of the train station.
