  • Carbonero Latin Kitchen has opened at 2005 Lafayette Blvd., near Paul’s Bakery in Fredericksburg. The building was thoroughly renovated for the new restaurant.
  • The new Fredericksburg Visitor Center will open Nov. 1 at 601 Caroline St. (1st floor), with a formal ribbon-cutting planned for January. The former Visitor Center at 706 Caroline St. closed Oct. 23, and a satellite Visitor Center will be open inside the downtown Courtyard by Marriott from Oct. 24-31.
  • Fredericksburg Fitness Studio, which is located at 2541 Cowan Blvd., is opening a second studio at 541 William St. in downtown Fredericksburg.
  • Workers at the Cowan Crossing Starbucks location in Fredericksburg recently voted to join Starbucks Workers United. The Cowan Crossing workers join a growing nationwide movement of more than 11,000 baristas who have voted to form their union. The local Starbucks store was the 18th in Virginia and first in Fredericksburg to take that step.
  • Richmond-based Atlantic Union Bankshares Corp., the parent company of the largest bank in the Fredericksburg region by deposits, will buy Sandy Spring Bancorp for about $1.6 billion in stock.
  • The new Chase Bank branch at the entrance to Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center has opened. The new Silver Diner being built next to it is expected to open in November.
