Stafford County Public Schools, in partnership with Stafford County Fire & Rescue and volunteer fire stations, will again partner with Operation Warm, a national non-profit organization, to support Stafford students in need of a new winter coat. Across the division, 1,236 coats have been requested by school counselors to support their communities.
For every $25 raised by the community, Operation Warm provides a new coat for a child in need.
“Our collaboration with Stafford County Fire & Rescue plays a key role in supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our students and their families,” Stafford Schools Acting Superintendent Chris R. Fulmer said in a news release. “A new coat offers more than just warmth; it provides a sense of comfort and care, which are essential for children to thrive in school.”
“Operation Warm has become a meaningful tradition in Stafford County, offering hope to many of our most vulnerable families,” added Stafford County Fire Chief Joseph A. Cardello. “We look forward to being part of this initiative each year and deeply appreciate the community’s continued support of this important program.”
Across the United States, nearly 20 percent of children live in poverty. During the cold winter months, housing, food, heat, and healthcare take priority. A new coat helps foster self-confidence, school attendance, and outdoor play on cold days.
To help support local children this winter, make a tax-deductible donation through the online fundraising page. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide children in the community with brand-new winter coats.
