Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage, knocking the leaves of some trees and downing countless more. Additionally, Helene may have paused foliage change because the best conditions for color development are warm, sunny days and cold, clear nights.
This week’s beautiful weather provided those very conditions, so we should start to see more color every day.
Look for more yellow coming from black birch, hickories and tulip poplar. Sugar and red maple are also starting to show dazzling red, yellow and orange.
