Prince William Fire and Rescue says an early morning fire on Friday claimed the lives of a mother and her two children in Woodbridge,
Around 5:50 a.m., neighbors along the 157000 block of Piedmont Road reported a fire at a nearby home. When crews arrived at the residence, they observed flames coming through the first and second floors along with the roof.
Prince William Fire and Rescue says a 49-year old mother and her two children–ages 8 and 13 died in the fire. Officials say other people who lived in the basement of the house were able to evacuate safely.
Fire department officials say an investigation cannot begin yet because the house is unstable. Officials say the house had working smoke detectors but not a sprinkler system. Photo courtesy Prince William Fire and Rescue
