As part of its Memorandum of Understanding with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management earlier this year, the Stafford County Fire and Rescue’s Swift Water Team has been requested to assist with potential impacts from Hurricane Helene.
Eight members of the department’s swift water yeam will deploy Friday to Southwestern Virginia to assist with any impacted areas. This is the first deployment for the team.
“Our Swift Water Team is second to none, and we know that should the need arise in Southwestern Virginia or beyond, they will provide the very best service to anyone they encounter,” said Stafford County Fire Chief Joseph A. Cardello.
The team’s deployment will not impact daily swift water capabilities in Stafford County.
