King George County Public Schools announced Tuesday that it is seeking letters of interest from qualified candidates to represent the James Monroe District on the school board after the resignation of Matthew Roles.
Candidates must be registered voters and live in the James Monroe District.
Anyone interested must submit a letter of interest not to exceed 300 words, and a resume. The letter of interest must include the candidate’s name, address, telephone number and email address. Submissions must be sent to: Erin Scalph, clerk, at [email protected] or delivered by mail to: King George County Public Schools, Attn: Erin Scalph, P.O. Box 1239, King George, Va. 22485.
The letter of interest and resume must be received by Oct. 2 at noon.
During an Oct. 7 special school board meeting, candidates will have up to 10 minutes to state why they want to serve on the school board. Interviews with each candidate may follow. School board members are allowed to appoint an individual to fill a vacancy that was created by a resignation within 45 days, per Virginia code.
Roles, a Wisconsin native, was elected to the board in 2021.
