by | Sep 22, 2024 | Spotsylvania, Ted Schubel, Transportation

Construction to widen Route 620 (Harrison Road) to four lanes between Route 610 (Old Plank Road) and Route 627 (Gordon Road) will begin this Monday.

Additional project improvements will include:

A center turn lane along Harrison Road

Additional through lanes at the Old Plank Road and Gordon Road intersections

Extension of existing turn lanes at the Old Plank Road and Gordon Road intersections

Sidewalk along Harrison Road

Pedestrian crossing signal equipment and crosswalks at the intersections with Old Plank Road and Gordon Road

Widened section of Harrison Road will have curb and gutter

There will be alternating lane and shoulder closures at times on Harrison Road between Old Plank Road and Gordon Road. If needed, a flagging crew will direct one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Daytime work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. While most work will be accomplished during the day, periodic overnight work may occur at times between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

As the project progresses, temporary traffic shifts will occur as well.

Access to residential driveways along Harrison Road will always be maintained.

The project will be complete by late summer 2026.
