Weekend: Warm, humid with scattered storms
- Another false fall follows next week
- More clouds and much cooler Friday
- Warming back up and remaining humid Saturday and Sunday
- Showers, storms scattered the next 3 evenings
A substantial easing of the heat comes Friday — most of the afternoon in the upper 70s with lots of clouds and a light northeast breeze. Some small showers will be in the mix on occasion, but no prolonged rain is expected during the day.
Warming back up to near 90 both Saturday and Sunday, and both days bring the chance for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the evenings.
Cooler and drier air moves into the Fredericksburg area on Labor Day, leading to a noticeable drop in humidity, a mix of sun and clouds, and an afternoon near 80.
The core of that dry and cool mass of air will anchor over the northeastern U.S. all of next week, sending in occasional breezes from the northeast and keeping our humidity low. As a result, no rain is expected between Labor Day and Friday, Sept. 6.
Afternoons next week will hover in the upper 70s to near 80, and lows will tumble to just below 60. Widespread lows in the low-mid 50s return next week to the more rural areas of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties.
