Iconic downtown Fredericksburg coffeeshop Hyperion Espresso has new ownership and a new roadmap.  However, customers will be hard-pressed to notice major changes, writes Joey LoMonaco.   

 -A former Spotsylvania County Public Schools behavioral interventionist was convicted Friday of misdemeanor assault and battery of a kindergarten student. A teacher who witnessed the incident testified and gave an inside look at the chaos that erupted on April 10 at Cedar Forest Elementary, reports Taft Coghill Jr.  

The King George County School Board voted 4-1 to uphold the library book checkout process at the middle school after a county resident challenged two novels deemed sexually explicit, writes Taft Coghill Jr. 

-A joint effort between Fredericksburg officials, the NAACP and the Mayfield Civic Association is looking to provide old and new residents of the Mayfield community information regarding a petroleum pipeline that has run through the predominantly minority neighborhood since 1964, Joey LoMonaco reports. 

The King George Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to oust all Economic Development Authority members before reappointing just one during a meeting last week. One EDA member said she was blindsided by the decision, reports Taft Coghill Jr.
