Stafford County crime report, July 31-Aug. 5

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from July 31- Aug. 5:

  • ASSAULT Crash Champions Collision Repair, 525 Garrisonville Road, 7/30, 4:26 p.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to staff who advised a “belligerent” customer was upset over an estimate. The customer then assaulted a staff member. The suspect was identified and a warrant for assault and battery was submitted. Rappahannock Regional Jail, 7/31, 5:25 p.m. An inmate assaulted two correctional officers and damaged property. The inmate, Kelvin Smith, 31, added two counts of assault and battery on a correctional officer and destruction of property to his list of charges. He remains incarcerated.
  • BREAKING AND ENTERING Windsor Ridge Court, 8/2, 2:06 p.m. Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to a breaking and entering. The victim advised he returned home from the gym to discover his front door to have signs of forced entry. After an inventory of the home was conducted, it was discovered approximately $9,000 worth of items were stolen from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
  • DISTURBANCE Edwards Drive, 7/3, 1:14 a.m. The residents at this address don’t always listen to hip-hop music, but when they do, so does the rest of Grafton Village. Deputies had the homeowner turn down the music.
  • DUI Deacon Road, 8/3, 1:26 a.m. Sergeant E.E. West was in the area when she observed a speeding vehicle tailgating another vehicle with its trunk open. She conducted a traffic stop and the driver had signs of intoxication. When “one beer” changed to “a few” and eventually to “a couple beers,” field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, drinking while driving, driving without a license, and following too closely. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
  • EMBEZZLEMENT Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building, 8/1, 1:11 p.m. Employer at a Stafford County business came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an employee falsifying hours worked on a timesheet. The case is under investigation.
  • FOUND PROPERTY Lakewood Apartments, 8/1, 4:21 p.m. Staff at the apartment complex found a suspected controlled substance wrapped in a Powerball lottery ticket. The ticket was not a winner. Rowser Building 1739 Richmond Highway, 8/1, 6:06 a.m. Deputies recovered an unoccupied stolen car in the parking lot. The Honda sedan was stolen from Fairfax. A suspect is already incarcerated at the nearby Rappahannock Regional Jail.
  • FRAUD Barclay Lane, 8/1, 10:17 p.m. Resident reported she used Paypal to purchase a vehicle through Facebook. The seller account was fictitious. Richards Ferry Road, 8/1, 12:05 p.m. Resident reported a gift card was used without her permission. Le Way Drive, 8/1, 11:20 a.m. A business in Florida had their account hacked and the offender used the account to purchase two vehicles from the Auto Auction. Holly Corner Road, 8/1, 10:06 a.m. Resident reported she attempted to purchase a golf cart through Facebook Marketplace. After a deposit of $500, the account was determined to be fraudulent.
  • HIT AND RUN Leeland Road/Primmer House Road, 7/31, 6:04 p.m. Motorist reported his vehicle was struck at this intersection by a blue Hyundai Elantra. The other driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Holiday Inn Express, 15 Salisbury Dr., 7/31, 2:30 p.m. Hotel guest reported his unoccupied vehicle was struck and damaged. He was unsure if the damage occurred at the hotel or while the vehicle was parked at another business.
  • LARCENY Sarasota Drive, 7/30, 4:45 a.m. Deputy S. Waheed responded to a larceny. A suspect unlawfully entered the victim’s vehicle and stole a piggy bank filled with cash. Azalea Street, 7/30, 12:32 p.m. Animal Control Officer V.R. Weadon responded to a dognapping. The victim advised when she arrived home from vacation, her dog and a known party were missing. Target, 1090 Stafford Market Place, 7/31, 11:41 a.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to the department store for a shoplifting. Staff provided information on several thefts by the same suspect this year. Gildea was able to identify the suspect and charges are pending. Wind Ridge Drive, 7/31, 9:19 a.m. A resident reported his GMC Yukon was missing from the parking lot. Deputy J.L. Jones is investigating the case. Goose Pond Road, 8/1, 5:30 p.m. Resident reported an ex-boyfriend transferred money out of her bank account. Willow Branch Court, 8/2, 1:28 p.m. Sergeant M.E. Gordon responded to a larceny. The victim had her purse stolen from her unattended vehicle. Kohl’s, 1220 Stafford Market Place, 8/2, 9:00 p.m. Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to a larceny. Staff had video of a female suspect entering the store and stealing items. She put the stolen items in a white SUV before entering the business to repeat the process. The business reported 188 items missing.
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Wilderness Court, 7/30 11:55 a.m. Deputy C.M. Ramirez responded to a caller who advised there was a female yelling at them. Ramirez  located the suspect in view of the public in an intoxicated state. She was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Holiday Inn Express, 594 Warrenton Road, 8/2, 12:15 p.m. Deputy K.W. Suter was flagged down in the parking lot for a disagreement. While being the mediator, Suter observed signs of intoxication in the male. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Intersection of Warrenton Road and Plantation Drive, 8/3, 5:34 p.m. Deputy A.J. Charoenthep and Deputy S.T. Myers responded to a report of a male walking into traffic. Deputies located the suspect, the male from the previous public intoxication call. The pint of vodka in his possession was a third full. He was again charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
  • ROBBERY Giant, 35 Town and Country Drive, 7/30, 3:14 p.m. Deputies responded to a robbery. The juvenile victim advised he arrived at the parking lot to sell shoes to two individuals. One of the suspects produced a firearm and both fled with the victim’s shoes. The investigation is ongoing. We encourage residents to use the Safe Exchange Zone in the Public Safety Center’s parking lot to conduct this type of exchange.
  • THREATS Firebrick Drive, 8/3, 9:18 a.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to a disturbance. It was advised a male at the residence was under the influence and making threats to burn down the victim’s house and church she attends. Deputies made contact with the suspect, who resisted arrest. He was charged with threats to burn a building and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
  • VANDALISM Warrenton Road/Cambridge Street, 7/31, 4:30 p.m. Driver reported an ill-tempered motorcyclist struck her side mirror with his hand. Sunny Hill Court, 7/31, 1:27 a.m. Resident reported a black male driving a silver Jeep Wrangler damaged property on her porch. The suspect covered her RING camera with his hand, but not before it captured an excellent photograph. The case is under investigation by Deputy W.E. Trainor IV. Cynthia’s Place, 8/1, 11:12 a.m. Resident reported her car window was shattered overnight.
