The Virginia three-day sales tax holiday started at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
During the sales tax holiday, consumers can purchase qualifying school supplies ($20 or less per item), clothing and footwear ($100 or less per item), hurricane and emergency preparedness items and Energy Star and WaterSense products ($2,500 or less per item) without paying sales tax.
Hurricane and emergency preparedness items include portable generators ($1,000 or less per item), gas-powered chainsaws ($350 or less per item), chainsaw accessories ($60 or less per item and other necessities ($60 or less per item).
Qualifying Energy Star or WaterSense products purchased for noncommercial home or personal use are also included.
