A Spotsylvania man is in custody after turning himself in to authorities following an early Tuesday morning shooting in the 11200 block of Ashby Drive.

Deputies responded to a reported shooting shortly after 1 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found an adult male and female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victims were transported to an area trauma center with serious injuries and are listed in stable condition.

Witnesses told investigators that an acquaintance arrived at the home where several people were and was asked to leave. According to witnesses, the suspect refused to leave, leading to an argument in the front yard, where the incident occurred.

As the suspect attempted to leave the property, he allegedly ran over the female victim with his vehicle.

Joseph Alfonza Jackson, 43, of Spotsylvania was arrested by detectives and charged with three counts of malicious wounding. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
