Scam concerns in Spotsylvania

by | Jul 10, 2024 | Police and Fire, Spotsylvania, Ted Schubel

The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says they continue to see scammers posing as law enforcement in the county. Crime Prevention Deputy Margarida Figueroa says the scams vary, but generally the caller will identify themselves as a law enforcement officer stating the person on the other line has a warrant, did not show up for jury duty, or has an overdue fine and will be arrested unless they pay right away.

Figueroa says the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office will never contact you regarding payment on a case, crime, warrant, jury duty, or any other law enforcement matter. If you have questions as to whether a call is real, hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office at 540-582-7115. You may also email Deputy Figueroa at [email protected]
