State Police say one person died while two others were injured in a Tuesday morning crash that involved a disabled vehicle in the 95 Express Lanes near Occoquan.
The incident happened at 6:17 a.m. at mile marker 160 after an SUV traveling north in the Express Lanes pulled off onto the right shoulder due to mechanical issues.
State Police spokeswoman Corrine Geller says both the driver and a passenger exited the vehicle when a Ford F-150 pickup truck veered onto the shoulder and struck the male passenger and the disabled SUV.
The drivers of both the SUV and the Ford were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the SUV died at the scene.
Geller says the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
