Stafford County crime report, June 25-July 1

The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from June 19-24:

 

  • ASSAULT 7-Eleven, 25 Solomon Drive, 6/28, 4:37 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to an assault. The victim advised her husband’s ex-girlfriend had been stalking her since March. The harassment escalated today when the suspect hit the victim with her vehicle. The victim was treated for her injuries and warrants for stalking, hit and run, and attempted felonious assault were obtained. Catherine Lane, 6/29, 9:02 a.m. Sergeant A.T. Leckemby responded to an assault. The victim advised a known party who had previously trespassed showed up again. During this unwanted conversation, the suspect threw coffee on the victim. The suspect was located and charged with trespassing, and assault and battery. She was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. 300 block of Warrenton Road, 6/29, 12:23 p.m. Deputy A. De Hoyos responded to a weapons offense. Multiple callers advised they observed two males arguing when one of them brandished a machete. De Hoyos made contact with the victim who advised the suspect was upset he was in his panhandling spot. The argument escalated when the suspect assaulted the victim and threatened him with his machete. Deputies located the suspect and charged him with brandishing a machete and assault and battery. He was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. 
  • DUI Wawa, 3099 Richmond Highway, 6/23, 4:23 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to a loud altercation. The caller advised two females and a male were having a loud disagreement in a Nissan Altima. Trainor made contact with the parties and observed signs of intoxication from the driver. She would admit to consuming tequila prior to driving, but could not remember how much. It was discovered that not only did she have a suspended license, but she had a previous DUI charge from 2019. She was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content above .2 and driving with a suspended license. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Intersection of Warrenton Road and Cambridge Street, 6/27, 1:35 a.m. Deputy M.A. Holub responded to an unknown problem. Fire and Rescue staff advised they were checking on a driver of a box truck who was passed out. When the driver woke up he began to drive off. Holub located the box truck stopped in the middle of the road and made contact with the driver who at first advised he had “nothing” to drink prior to driving, but later changed his answer when it was discovered he was more than twice over the legal limit. The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, and stopping on the highway. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond. Excel Inn and Suites, 594 Warrenton Road, 6/28, 12:37 a.m. Sergeant J.D. Hurt observed a Kia make a U-turn at a solid red light and conducted a traffic stop as Deputy P.J. Leon responded to assist. The driver had signs of intoxication and a revoked license due to a prior DUI conviction. He was charged with driving under the influence while revoked, second-offense refusal, and failure to obey a traffic light. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Fas Mart, 2142 Richmond Highway, 6/28, 8:47 a.m. Deputy J.L. Jones and Deputy F.A. Martinez responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised there was a female driver “nodding off” behind the wheel. The driver, who advised she just got out of court, had signs of intoxication. Deputy Martinez deployed his K-9 partner, Mija, who alerted on the vehicle and suspected controlled substances were located. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, and driving with a suspended license. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond. Intersection of Richmond Highway and Washington Drive, 6/28, 9:35 a.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea responded to an unknown problem. The caller advised there was a female asleep behind the wheel. When Gildea arrived, he located the suspect still asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle still in drive with a one-year-old in the backseat. When the driver woke up, she advised she was going to her sister’s house after just leaving her sister’s house. She further advised she consumed “a beer or two.” She was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2 with a child present, child neglect, and driving while revoked. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. Choptank Road, 6/28, 11:54 p.m. Deputy T.G. Croson responded to a disturbance. A Jeep was stopped in the roadway and multiple parties were involved in a verbal argument. It was discovered the driver was driving her friends home after a day at the beach. As courteous as that is, she was intoxicated and ran out of gas. This resulted in a verbal argument that escalated when the driver assaulted one of the parties. She was charged with driving under the influence, refusal, and assault and battery. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Wawa, 1172 Garrisonville Road, 6/29, 8:59 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman responded to a hit and run. The caller advised a vehicle struck a light pole. An off-duty deputy in the area observed the suspect vehicle drive into the Wawa parking lot. Newman made contact with the driver, who despite having signs of intoxication, advised he consumed “not much” beer. “Not much” was still too much and the driver was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
  • FRAUD Sapphire Street, 6/25, 10:22 a.m. Deputy D.J. Ferrell responded to a fraud. The victim advised he got a call from someone pretending to be Walmart’s fraud department. The scammer advised they needed to confirm the victim’s identity, but later used that information to transfer funds. Staybridge Suites, 2996 Richmond Highway, 6/27, 8:40 a.m. Deputy C.M. Ramirez responded to a fraud. Staff advised they received a call from “Kyle” who needed staff to calibrate the pin pad. While providing step-by-step instructions, the caller was able to defraud the hotel.
  • LARCENY Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 6/24, 5:15 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman responded to a larceny. Staff advised a female suspect well-known to staff consumed a bottle of wine before paying for it. When deputies informed her she would be charged and could not simply pay for her mistake, she resisted arrest. After being detained, suspected controlled substances were located in her possession. She was charged with shoplifting, obstruction of justice, possession of controlled substances, and public intoxication. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Carriage Hill Drive, 6/24, 5:25 p.m. Deputy E.L. Shelton responded to a larceny. The victim advised his speaker and firearm disappeared while a moving company was at his residence. One of the workers was discovered to be the culprit. He was also found to be intoxicated after consuming six beers. He was charged with grand larceny, petit larceny, and public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 secured bond. Tobacco Hut, 754 Warrenton Road, 6/25, 4:01 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to a larceny. Staff advised a “really innocent” looking suspect stole numerous edibles. Weis, 252 Deacon Road, 6/25, 9:05 p.m. Deputy E.L. Shelton responded to a larceny. Staff advised they observed a male suspect, who is a known shoplifter and had trespassed previously. While in the store he would conceal Four Loko drinks in his pants. Warrants for trespassing and shoplifting were obtained. Publix, 1640 Publix Way, 6/26, 2:55 p.m. Deputy A.M. Pitts responded to a larceny. The victim advised while shopping for sushi, she noticed her wallet missing from her cart. While taking the report, the victim received notice of unauthorized transactions to her credit cards. Walmart, 125 Washington Square Plaza, 6/26, 8:06 p.m. Deputy P.J. Leon responded to a larceny. Staff advised a female suspect walked out with approximately $1,700 worth of items. While the suspect did take multiple items, she did leave behind her suspected controlled substances. Wawa, 15 Eustace Road, 6/27, 1:33 p.m. Sergeant E.E. West responded to a larceny. Staff advised a female suspect just walked out with stolen items. West happened to be in the area and quickly located the suspect slurping her stolen drink as she walked down Garrisonville Road. The suspect was detained and provided a false identity. She was not in fact the doctor she was claiming to be and it was discovered she was wanted out of Stafford County for a different shoplifting offense. She was served on her outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with shoplifting and providing a false identity to law enforcement. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $500 secured bond. Wawa, 72 Austin Park Drive, 6/27, 5:11 p.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedaux responded to the second Wawa larceny of the day. Staff advised three suspects attempted to pay for snacks. When their card was declined, instead of putting the snacks back or paying a different way, the group walked out with the items. Target, 25 South Gateway Drive, 6/29, 6:08 p.m. Deputy E.L. Shelton responded to a larceny. Staff advised they observed a female suspect concealing items. The suspect was stopped and the nearly $315 worth of items was recovered. She was issued a summons for shoplifting. 
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION Area of Cambridge Street and Manning Drive, 6/23, 4:20 a.m. Deputy D.A. Robertson responded to a disturbance. A male, who was under the influence, left his vehicle in Louisa and wanted a ride to go get it. In an attempt to get a ride, he jumped in front of a vehicle. That vehicle happened to be a marked police vehicle driven by a deputy from Spotsylvania. The suspect was given a ride, but not where he requested. He was charged with public intoxication and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Flatford Road, 6/23, 6:06 a.m. Deputy F.C. O’Neill responded to a suspicious person call. The caller advised an unknown male was running around their yard. O’Neill made contact with the swaying suspect who advised he drank “too much.” He was correct. The suspect was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Cherry Laurel Drive, 6/25, 1:17 a.m. Deputy S.A. Fulford responded to an unknown problem. The caller advised he observed a passed-out male. Fulford made contact with the suspect who did not know where he was. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Brooks Park, 130 Butler Road, 6/26, 12:07 p.m. Sergeant M.E. Gordon responded to a suspicious person call. Deputies made contact with the suspect who had signs of intoxication and provided a false identity. He was arrested for public intoxication and providing a false identity for law enforcement. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. Wawa, 920 Wonder Road, 6/26, 12:17 p.m. Deputy A.M. Pitts responded to an intoxicated person call. There was a female suspect within the business who had signs of intoxication. It was further discovered the intoxicated female concealed alcoholic beverages, and proceeded to consume them within the bathroom. She was charged with public intoxication and larceny. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 secured bond. Anita Drive, 6/27, 1:50 a.m. Deputy S.C. Steinway responded to a disturbance. It was discovered two parties were having a verbal argument. The one who started this early morning debate was intoxicated and charged with public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Atina Drive, 6/28, 12:28 a.m. Deputy S.C. Steinway responded to a suspicious person call. The home owner observed a shirtless man attempting to enter his residence. Steinway made contact with the shirtless suspect who advised he was trying to get into his friend’s house. Due to his intoxicated state, the suspect didn’t realize he was at the wrong residence. He was arrested for public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 
  • VANDALISM Margaret Brent Elementary School, 2125 Mountain View Road, 6/27, 8:11 a.m. Deputy J.M. Smihal responded to a vandalism. Staff advised they had camera footage of two juveniles destroying potted plants. Both juveniles were identified by prior interactions and criminal complaints for vandalism are pending. Creek Bank Drive, 6/27, 3:20 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates responded to a nightmare neighbor. The victim advised they hired contractors to fix a partition when a neighbor loudly voiced his disapproval. He would take apart the fence and continuously yell inappropriate things towards the victim and his family, advising they didn’t know who they were messing with. The suspect was charged with destruction of property and disorderly conduct.
