A man was hospitalized Sunday afternoon following a shooting in the 300 block of Lafayette Blvd., according to a Facebook post from the Fredericksburg Police Department.
An automated crime alert text message sent at 5:59 p.m. Sunday stated that there was “a large police presence” as part of an active investigation and asked residents to avoid the area. The victim, a male, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. At 7:39 p.m., a follow-up message indicated that the area had been cleared.
