A Maryland man died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening on Interstate 95 in Caroline County, three miles south of the Thornburg exit.
Virginia State Police responded to the accident at 9:46 p.m. and discovered that a 2011 Ford Edge driven by Demetrius Jarrod Steele, 35, of Randallstown, Maryland ran off the right side of the road and overturned in a field. Steele was ejected and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state police.
The crash remains under investigation.
It was the second accident in a span of four days in Caroline in which the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. Logan Thomas Duff, 22, of Spotsylvania, died in a single-vehicle crash on Fredericksburg Turnpike in the Woodford area and also was not wearing a seatbelt.
