The following crimes were reported to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office from June 19-24:
- ASSAULT Noble Court, June 21, 8:22 a.m. Deputy J.E. Cordes and Deputy A.W. Sypolt responded to a disturbance in progress. The caller advised there was a loud disagreement between multiple people that escalated when a female suspect sprayed a caustic agent. Both victims advised the suspect came over to “start problems” and were sprayed with what they believed was bear spray. Deputies located the suspect and charged her with two counts of felony injury by caustic agent and disorderly conduct. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. Falmouth Beach, 401 River Road, June 21, 3:48 p.m. Deputy A.W. Sypolt responded to an assault. It was discovered the victim made a comment to a family member and the two nearby suspects believed it was regarding them. The suspects, who are sisters, proceeded to assault the victim before swimming across the river in an attempt to flee. Deputies were able to locate and detain them. One sister was charged with assault and battery and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond while the other, who is a juvenile, received a criminal complaint for assault and battery. Giant, 550 Celebrate Virginia Parkway, June 22, 11:22 p.m. Deputy P.J. Leon responded to an assault. It was discovered a disagreement between an employee and her manager broke out. During this disagreement, the manager struck the employee with a shopping cart. The suspect was charged with assault and battery and was released by the magistrate.
- DISTURBANCE Giant, 550 Celebrate Virginia Parkway, June 19, 10:48 a.m. Deputy F.A. Martinez and Deputy A. De Hoyos responded to a disturbance. It was advised there was a customer arguing with staff and refusing to leave. Deputies made contact with the suspect who provided a false identity. His real identity was uncovered and deputies learned he was wanted out of Fredericksburg. The suspect attempted to flee. He was charged with providing a false identity to law enforcement and obstruction of justice. He was also served on his outstanding warrants. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $500 secured bond. Ebenezer Church Road, June 22, 9:33 p.m. Deputy B.M. Stanfill responded to a breaking and entering. It was discovered the victim was in her residence cooking when an unknown male suspect unlawfully entered. Deputies arrived and located the suspect hiding inside the bathroom. The suspect would break a window before complying with deputies’ commands to exit. He was charged with unlawful entry and destruction of property. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
- DUI Chestnut Hill Drive, June 19, 3:02 p.m. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell Jr. and Deputy D.J. Ferrell responded to a reckless driver complaint. The caller advised a white Jeep with a Connecticut license plate had been driving into the curb. Deputies located the vehicle swerving and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, who was on his way to Florida, advised he has been drinking for the past ten days. The driver had signs of intoxication and there were two children within the vehicle. He was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of child neglect. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond. Willowmere Pond Road, June 21, 8:40 p.m. Deputy S.C. Steinway and Deputy X.D. Bates responded to an unknown problem. The caller advised he observed a male suspect asleep behind the wheel who appeared under the influence. Before fire and rescue could arrive, the suspect drove off. Deputies located the suspect vehicle and made contact with the driver who had signs of intoxication and open beer cans within the vehicle. Despite the signs of a DUI, the driver requested to go home and sleep it off. That request was denied and the driver was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Mountain View Road, June 22, 6:00 a.m. Deputy N.D. Fonseca responded to a single-vehicle auto accident. The caller advised she had gone off the roadway, struck a mailbox, and ended her ride into a pole. Luckily, the driver only sustained minor injuries. The 18-year-old driver had signs of intoxication and admitted to being “probably a little intoxicated.” Within the vehicle were multiple open containers of beer and suspected controlled substances were located in her purse. After being released from the hospital, the driver was charged with driving under the influence, driving after illegally consuming alcohol, and possession of controlled substances. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond. Forbes Street, June 22, 8:01 p.m. Deputy D.A. Robertson responded to a reckless driver complaint. The caller advised a Chevrolet was having a hard time maintaining its lane. Deputy Robertson located the vehicle as it crossed the double yellow line and the driver flipped the bird to a nearby gas station. A traffic stop was conducted and deputies made contact with the driver, who was in the mood for dancing. The dancing driver had signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming “four sips” of alcohol. He was charged with driving under the influence, refusal, and the traffic lane violation. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
- LARCENY Rappahannock Area Community Services, 15 Hope Road, June 18, 5:10 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to a larceny. A large amount of cash was stolen from within a vehicle. Wawa, 72 Austin Park Drive, June 18, 8:04 p.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to a suspicious group. The caller advised a “mob” of teens was blocking traffic in the area. When Trainor arrived, staff advised the five males stole items. Blacksmith Court, June 19, 10:45 a.m. Deputy C.S. Harding responded to a larceny. The victim advised a known party was refusing to return their vehicle. The vehicle was entered as stolen. Amazon, 220 Centreport Parkway, June 19, 11:12 p.m. Deputy J.A. Martin responded to a larceny. The victim advised a firearm left in his vehicle was no longer there. Sheetz, 1175 Garrisonville Road, June 20, 10:39 p.m. Deputy T.G. Croson and Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to a larceny. Staff advised two male suspects asked to have items for free. Staff obviously said no and when they did, the two males stole items. Deputies were able to identify the suspects and made contact with them at a residence in Stafford. Both were issued a summons for larceny. Sheetz, 10 Washington Square Plaza, June 21, 10:29 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to a larceny. Staff advised a thirsty male suspect stole over $30 worth of booze.
- PUBLIC INTOXICATION Wawa, 9 South Gateway Drive, June 20, 12:02 a.m. Deputy J.A. Martin and Deputy I.E. Baldi were in the area when they observed a male suspect who appeared under the influence. He would originally deny being under the influence, but later admitted to drinking a few beers. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. 200 block of Cambridge Street, June 20, 2:10 a.m. Deputy D.S. Jett was in the area when he observed a male suspect next to the road waving his arms in the air. Jett then observed the suspect stumbling in the roadway. The suspect had signs of intoxication and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
- SWATTING Madison Court, June 20, 10:25 p.m. Deputies responded to a disturbance with a weapon. The caller advised there was a little kid with a gun outside the residence. Deputies responded to the area, talked with neighbors, and discovered no signs of a disturbance. It was determined to be a possible swatting attempt.
- VANDALISM Amazon, 220 Centreport Parkway, June 19, 9:43 a.m. Deputy K.R. Sprinkles responded to a vandalism. The victim advised her vehicle had flour and eggs poured on it. Amazon, 220 Centreport Parkway, June 19, 5:31 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to a vandalism. Two vehicles had been egged.
- WARRANT SERVED Wawa, 105 Garrisonville Road, June 20, 7:10 a.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea was in the area when he observed a male outside the business. Gildea recognized the male and knew he had an active capias warrant. The suspect would attempt to fool Gildea by providing a false identity, but it did not work. The suspect was charged with falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, identity theft to avoid arrest and was served on his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
- WEAPON OFFENSE Dollar General, 20 Plantation Road, June 21, 11:18 a.m. Deputy J.R. Suarez responded to a road rage incident. It was discovered both parties were traveling on Northbound I-95 when words were exchanged. The suspect brandished a firearm towards the victim and, out of fear of his life, the victim attempted to flee and, in the process, struck another vehicle. The suspect was charged with brandishing a firearm and reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, June 21, 1:33 p.m. Deputy F.C. O’Neill responded to a knife-slinging slasher incident. The victim advised a male suspect, wearing SpongeBob underwear, swung a knife towards him while advising “move out of my way partner.” The victim complied and called police. Deputies located the suspect near Royal Farms, located at 125 Royal Falls Drive, still in possession of the knife. He was charged with assault and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
