The iconic Purina tower in downtown Fredericksburg is officially finished being repainted after the vote was passed for it back in April by the Economic Development Authority. To avoid any consequential legal action from Nestle, who owns the Purina brand, and any potential brand allusion, Garrett Green, owner of Green Fitness and Wellness in the adjacent building and the tower itself, enlisted artists Gabriel Pons (Pons Studio) and Pete Morelewicz (Print Jazz) to repaint by inverting the colors of the checkerboard design already on the tower. The tower on Charles Street was last painted in 1999.
