Spotsylvania County residents are taking the opportunity to provide feedback on the school division’s search for a new superintendent.
BWP and Associates, the search firm hired by the school board, reported that 225 people shared feedback with firm representatives Kevin Castner and Wayne Harris during four community forums and stakeholder focus groups last week.
An online survey that opened April 15 received more than 1,000 responses in the first two days, and the total is now approximately 2,100, including 250 from Spotsylvania County Public Schools students.
“We are excited with the responses so far,” School Board Chair Lorita Daniels said. “The School Board has been very deliberate in making sure that all stakeholders, including students, are part of the superintendent search process.”
The survey will remain open until April 28. It is available on the SCPS website in English and Spanish. All parents, guardians, students, SCPS employees, county leaders and community members are encouraged to complete the survey.
Castner and Harris will provide an update on the search at a school board meeting Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. The board will also finalize its fiscal year 2025 budget at that meeting.
