Crime reports from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office April 15-19

  • ASSAULT Drew Middle School, 501 Cambridge Street, 4/12, 2:24 p.m. Deputy V.L. Powell was conducting her SRO duties when she was informed of a bathroom brawl. It was discovered one female student assaulted another after allegations of name calling. The predominant aggressor was also discovered to be in possession of a THC vape. Criminal complaints are pending. Target, 1090 Stafford Market Place, 4/13, 2:15 p.m. Deputy A.M. Pitts dealt with a powerful parking problem. The victim advised he was assaulted by a female suspect after they engaged in a verbal argument over parking issues. The suspect was located and issued a permitted warrant for assault and battery. Quality Inn, 543 Warrenton Road, 4/17, 11:58 a.m. Deputy R.A. Weatherholtz responded to a disturbance between customers and employees. When Weatherholtz arrived, both groups were still engaged in a verbal conflict that he had to de-escalate. It was discovered the male and female customers stayed past check-out time and staff came to remind them. Instead, the customers exchanged profanities and the female customer assaulted a staff member. The female was checked out of the Quality Inn and placed into the Rappahannock Regional Jail Inn where she was charged with assault and battery. She was held on a $2,000 secured bond.
  • BREAKING AND ENTERING Coventry Court, 4/14, 4:30 p.m. Deputy C.C. Lee responded to a breaking and entering. It was discovered an ex-boyfriend climbed through the victim’s window and gained entry into her residence. When deputies arrived, he was located in the residence. He was charged with unlawful entry and was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance. 
  • DRUGS Cynthias Place, 4/13, 1:52 a.m. While on scene for a domestic, Deputy M.N. Sayegh observed suspected controlled substances in plain view that belonged to two others within the residence. Those two were detained and the substances were collected. Both were charged with possession of controlled substances and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.  
  • DUI 7-Eleven, 2998 Richmond Highway, 4/13, 2:29 p.m. Deputy C.M. Ramirez located a male passed out behind the wheel. When Ramirez made contact with the driver, she noticed signs of intoxication and a nearly completely consumed bottle of Fireball. The driver, despite admitting he lives in Maryland, advised his home was just up the street. He was educated that this is Stafford County and not Maryland before being placed in handcuffs. He was charged with driving under the influence and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Wawa, 275 Butler Road, 4/13, 8:52 p.m. A deputy with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office advised he was driving behind a vehicle that was traveling in the middle of two lanes with no lights on. Deputy M.A. Holub made contact with the driver at Wawa who advised her lights do not work. That said, she somehow made them work again in Deputy Holub’s presence. She had signs of intoxication and it was discovered this was not her first DUI. She was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five to ten years, and the traffic lane violation. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,500 secured bond.  Walmart, 125 Washington Square Plaza, 4/14, 10:50 a.m. Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to a caller who advised there was a a man passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot. When Cordes arrived, he discovered a half consumed 1.5-liter bottle of alcohol in the driver’s lap. Upon further inspection, eight additional empty 1.5-liter bottles were located. The driver was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond. Coventry Court, 4/15, 2:54 a.m. Deputy J.A. Albright was on scene of a domestic when she observed a vehicle parked askew. The driver was still inside and had clear signs of intoxication. She advised she consumed “a lot” of wine before getting behind the wheel. She was charged with driving under the influence and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Intersection of Cambridge Street and Truslow Road, 4/15, 9:38 p.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne was traveling in the area when he observed a vehicle following too closely behind another. That vehicle would then pass the other vehicle and accelerate to 75 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Sterne conducted a traffic stop as Deputy J.R. Suarez responded to assist. The driver had clear signs of intoxication and an alcoholic beverage in the back seat. She was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, and following too closely. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 secured bond. Fas Mart, 620 Cambridge Street, 4/18, 6:24 p.m. Deputy G.P. McCaulley was traveling on Cambridge Street when he observed a vehicle traveling 78 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. He conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who had a bottle of alcohol next to him. The driver, who had signs of intoxication, admitted to consuming beer prior to driving in order to pick up his kids. He was charged with driving under the influence and speeding. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
  • FRAUD Crab Apple Drive, 4/12, 6:11 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky prevented a scam involving a lying “lieutenant.” The victim advised he received a call from “Lieutenant Terry” of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. This caller advised the victim had federal warrants and needed to pay using gift cards to avoid them. Holetzky advised the victim that not only do we not have a lieutenant named Terry, but the Sheriff’s Office would not request money to pay off bonds. Due to this information, the victim did not lose any money. Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building, 1225 Courthouse Road, 4/18, 12:24 p.m. Deputy S.M. Craig responded to a fraud. The victim advised she had an unauthorized transaction over $1,000.
  • LARCENY 7-Eleven, 201 Garrisonville Road, 4/12, 1:22 a.m. Deputy J.W. Ahern responded to a report of Corona criminals. Staff advised two males stole two cases of Corona before leaving in a white Toyota truck. Target 1090 Stafford Market Place, 4/12, 1:18 p.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to a tactical tulip takeover. Staff advised a male suspect was currently stealing nearly $400 worth of items. In an attempt to fool staff, the suspect would change his clothes in the store before leaving. Luckily, the bright flower bouquet he took made it easy for Sullivan to locate him nearby. The suspect was issued a summons for shoplifting. 7-Eleven, 2337 Garrisonville Road, 4/13, 1:03 p.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to a report of bandana bandits. Staff advised two female suspects stole bandanas before leaving in a white Ford. Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 4/14, 7:03 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to a larceny. A staff member advised her purse was stolen while she worked. Using camera footage, it was discovered the purse was stolen by a couple. Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 4/15, 4:15 p.m. Deputy J.N. Mills responded to a larceny. Staff advised a male suspect stole approximately $180 worth of items before peddling away on a mountain bike. Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 4/17, 1:06 p.m. Deputy A.J. Layug responded to a failed larceny. Staff advised a male with “unkempt” hair attempted to steal $90 worth of items. When staff confronted him, the suspect, much like his hair, ran wild and fled the scene. Walgreens, 50 White Oak Road, 4/17, 2:48 p.m. Deputy J.E. Cordes responded to a larceny. Staff advised they had video of a male suspect stealing over $900 worth of items, including Plan B and Xyzal.  
  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION  Sanford Drive, 4/13, 10:10 p.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley observed a street sleeper after a caller advised there was a male lying in the roadway. Hensley arrived to discover the suspect still lying in the street. He had clear signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. Coventry Court, 4/15, 2:57 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor was assisting with Deputy J.A. Albright’s DUI investigation when a male suspect approached them. He, too, had clear signs of intoxication, and admitted to consuming a lot of alcohol. He was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to participate in a bond hearing. Stafford Hospital, 101 Hospital Center Boulevard, 4/17, 6:39 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates responded to an intoxicated person. Staff advised there was a female suspect who seemed rather intoxicated. Bates made contact with the suspect and was able to confirm she was intoxicated. Not only did she have the classic signs of being intoxicated, but the suspect advised she was “pretty intoxicated.” She was charged with public intoxication and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
  • THREATS Short Branch Road, 4/18, 6:20 p.m. Deputy J.J. Holetzky responded to threatening messages. The victims advised they received threats of death by an online user after a disagreement over a Facebook Marketplace ad. 
  • TRESPASS Sheetz, 10 Washington Square Plaza, 4/17, 3:54 a.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to call from staff who advised a female suspect was back on the property despite being trespassed earlier this month. When deputies arrived, they located the suspect asleep on the side of the business. When the sleeping beauty woke up, she was placed into handcuffs. She was charged with trespassing and finished her slumber at Rappahannock Regional Jail where she was held on a $1,500 secured bond. 
  • WARRANT SERVED Quarry Road, 4/12, 9:35 p.m. Deputy K.R. Sprinkles responded to serve a criminal’s capias. The Fredericksburg Police Department advised a male wanted for a capias was at this location. Sprinkles was able to quickly locate the suspect. Sprinkles located suspected controlled substances on the suspect and he was charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of paraphernalia, and served on his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 secured bond. Intersection of Richmond Highway and Hospital Center Boulevard, 4/12, 3:44 p.m. Deputy A.J. Layug responded to a risky rapping rider. The caller advised while driving in the area a male driver was “waving” around what appeared to be a firearm while following along to a rap song. It was advised the Lil Wayne wannabe was driving a gray Toyota Camry.  Fiddlers Court, 4/17, 8:40 p.m. Deputy B.M. Stanfill responded to a warrant service. It was advised a male suspect wanted out of Pennsylvania for felony money laundering decided to come and visit Stafford County. His stay would be extended, for Stanfill was able to locate him and take him into custody. He was charged with fugitive from justice and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
