The Caroline Sheriff’s Office says a concerned parent contacted them about a suspicious situation involving their minor child and an adult.  As a result, 45-year-old Darian Pleasants, of Ruther Glen, has been charged with felony offering a minor less than 16 years of age money for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Pleasant, a registered sex offender, is currently being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office says investigators obtained search warrants to the Internet and messaging application providers to obtain copies of conversations that allegedly took place between Pleasants and a juvenile, who identied themself as being under 16 years old.
Authorities say using the information gained from the search warrants, investigators obtained a search warrant for two residences in Caroline County. The Sheriff’s Office says they found Pleasants in possession of the device they believe was utilized to communicate with the juvenile victim in this case. Investigators also found a handgun in a safe they believed to be owned by Pleasants.
Sheriff Moser said, “Thanks to the victim and parent reporting this incident to the CCSO, and the dedicated work of the men and women of the CCSO, this case ended in an arrest and the suspect will have to stand trial for his charges. Nothing is more precious than our children and their safety is a number one priority of the CCSO.”
