About 700 area K-12 students attended Saturday’s STEAM-H Day at Germanna’s Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania. STEAM-H standing for science, technology, engineering, art, math and health.
“STEAM-H day shows that Germanna is truly a college for the community and that it has something for everyone—whether it be lasers and 3D printers, drones and drawings, microbes and macroinvertibrates, poetry and philosophy, or coloring with math and computers, the creativity, quality, and breadth of our faculty is on full display in these activities,” said Dr. Eric Earnhardt, Germanna Dean of Arts and Sciences.
“The entire event is run by Germanna’s faculty. They volunteer their time and effort creating and facilitating the activities that relate to their disciplines, and their work shows that they are instructional rock stars,” Dr. Earnhardt said.
STEAM-H Day emerged from the desire to showcase to the community the expansive offerings of the academic divisions under Dr. Shashuna Gray, VP of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development, who supported the growth of the event to include technology, mathematics, health sciences, and the arts two years ago.
