Fire officials say not only can driving over a fire hose cause significant damage to a vehicle, injuries to drivers, be potentially fatal for our personnel, those needing rescue, and any animals in a fire structure, but it is also illegal in the state of Virginia. The Fredericksburg Fire Department says interruption in water supply can mean the difference between life and death for those inside a building fire.
Virginia State Law: ““§ 46.2-922. Driving over fire hose.It shall be unlawful, without the consent of the fire department official in command, for the driver of any vehicle to drive over any unprotected hose of a fire department laid down for use at any fire or alarm of fire”
