The honors continue to roll in for James Monroe freshman basketball standout Makel Minor.
The Virginia High School League announced that Minor was named first-team all-state for Class 3 after setting a state record for points in a season by a freshman with 680.
Minor averaged 23.4 points per game to help lead the Yellow Jackets to a 23-6 record and a trip to the state semifinals. He was also named Battlefield District and Region 3B player of the year.
Minor’s backcourt mate, junior guard Michael Edwards, was named second-team all-state. Edwards was also named first-team all-district and all-region.
