Major Troy Skebo of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has been re-appointed as Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center’s President. Major Skebo will over the Board of Directors. Formed in 2008, Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) serving the localities of Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline and a portion of Orange County. The center serves as a safe, centralized location for the coordinated community response to child victims of alleged abuse and neglect and their non-offending caregivers. The center also provides multidisciplinary team coordination, child forensic services, and mental health services to nearly 400 children each year.
Major Skebo has been a board member with Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center since 2016 and has served as President for the past 2 ½ years. He previously served as Vice President and Treasurer. Major Skebo is a twenty-six-year veteran of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and 2007 graduate of Virginia Forensic Science Academy in Richmond, Virginia. Major Skebo stated “The greater Fredericksburg area is extremely fortunate to have a dedicated partnerships with so many professionals who make our mission a success. Safe Harbor’s staff and board members are committed to giving a lifeline to victims of alleged child abuse”.
