The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a felon who fled from a traffic stop Thursday night,
On December 28th at approximately 7:25 p.m. deputies were on White Oak Road when they observed 23-year-old Deric Stoke of Spotsylvania, enter a vehicle. Stokes was wanted out of Stafford County for a capias and Spotsylvania County for felony abduction, felony strangulation, felony malicious wounding, larceny, and obstruction of an emergency call. Major T.J. Skebo of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office say the charges stem from a domestic incident.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of the Auto Zone, located at 54 White Oak Road. As soon as the vehicle stopped, Stokes fled on foot towards South Pointe Lane.
Deputies set up a perimeter and utilized both drones and K-9’s in an attempt to locate Stokes. Despite numerous hours of searching, he was not located.
Stokes is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach. He has ties in the Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Richmond area. If you have any information, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately. Additional charges are pending. The Sheriff’s Office says this is a booking photo from 2022.
