Beginning in 1865, Fredericksburg’s African Americans began gathering at Shiloh Baptist Church Old Site in Fredericksburg each Thanksgiving morning.
The Shiloh Facebook page says “Those early members of Shiloh met at sunrise because many still had to work later on that day. Since 1865, Shiloh has honored their vision and commitment by likewise gathering at 6 a.m. each Thanksgiving morning.”
