From Shiloh Baptist Church Old Site
Sunrise Service UPDATE: Beginning in 1865, Fredericksburg’s African Americans began gathering at Shiloh each Thanksgiving morning. It was a way of giving thanks to a Way-Making God whose steadfast love carries us through good times and bad times. Those early members of Shiloh met at sunrise because many still had to work later on that day. Since 1865, Shiloh has honored their vision and commitment by likewise gathering at 6 a.m. each Thanksgiving morning.
We are happy to inform you that we will be having Sunrise Service on Thanksgiving Day at 6:00 a.m. Please make plans to attend. There will be light refreshments after the service.
