Change your clock, change your smoke detector batteries this weekend

by | Nov 3, 2023 | Police and Fire

From Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management:
Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, November 5, at 2 a.m. When you set your clocks back an hour, take the time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and check the manufacturing date on your alarms (need to be replaced every ten years). It is also important to test your smoke alarms monthly, not just during the time change.
If you are a Spotsylvania County resident and need assistance with testing or installing a smoke alarm (battery-operated only), please call our office at (540) 507-7925, during the business hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Note: Our office will be closed on Monday, November 7th (Election Day) and Friday, November 10th (Veterans Day).
