FAIRFAX, VA – Starting on or about Wednesday night, August 2, and continuing nightly through August 3, the ramp from southbound I-495 toward Tysons to eastbound George Washington Memorial Parkway will close from 11 p.m. through 4 a.m. the next morning. This closure is necessary for crews to safely shift the ramp’s alignment and complete clearing work for new stormwater drainage facilities as part of the 495 NEXT project.
Detour:
1. Continue south on I-495 and take Exit 44 for Georgetown Pike;
2. At the first Georgetown Pike traffic light, turn left and continue on the bridge over the Beltway;
3. Turn left at the second traffic light to take the ramp for northbound I-495; and
4. Continue north on I-495 to Exit 43 for George Washington Memorial Parkway
Drivers are urged to use caution and expect potential delays if traveling through this area. This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled to the following night in the event of inclement weather.
