From the Fredericksburg Clean and Green Commission:
The Solarize Fredericksburg program launches in the Fredericksburg region along with other Solarize programs across Virginia. Making the switch to solar power is easier and more affordable than ever, thanks to Solarize Virginia, a program that reduces the cost and complexity of going solar by vetting and using solar contractors who commit to reduced prices. This grassroots, community-based outreach initiative is managed by Virginia nonprofit Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP). Through a competitive bidding process, LEAP has named Convert Solar and Tiger Solar as their selected campaign installers for 2023.
2023 is a great year for homeowners to make the switch because Congress increased the federal investment tax credit (ITC), sometimes referred to as the solar tax credit, from 26% to 30% as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. The ITC allows homeowners to deduct a percentage of a solar energy system’s installation cost from their federal taxes with no cap on the value.
Since 2014, 1,015 Virginia households have made the switch to solar through LEAP’s Solarize, generating more than 9.2 MW of solar capacity.
Through August 31, 2023, homeowners can sign up to receive a free solar satellite assessment and discounted prices from our two vetted installers. LEAP also provides ongoing customer support and education throughout the process to make it as streamlined as possible. Signing up is free and requires no commitment until you sign a contract with an installer.

“In the current market, it is hard to know who to trust, or what questions to ask when you are thinking about getting solar. We ask the questions and negotiate the pricing so that participants don’t have to worry. We are excited to help even more folks install solar this year!”
Robert Courtnage, City of Fredericksburg Clean and Green Commission
“The value of the Virginia Solarize programs is that they simplify the process for homeowners by removing the steps of having to vet multiple solar contractors. It can be confusing and time consuming to go solar on your own. We are pleased to once again be working with LEAP to increase the use of clean, renewable solar energy in our city and the surrounding Fredericksburg region.”
David Clemens, Solarize Virginia Participant
“Getting solar was on my to-do list for years. I wanted to make sure I was getting the best deal and doing my due diligence, but it was hard to find the time. Solarize made the process easy! I love having an electric bill less than $10 and knowing that I am using clean energy.”
