From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:
On June 21, 2023 at approximately 7:30pm, Deputies C. Brooks, A. Branham, W. Jeffries and 1st Sgt. R. Pittman responded to the area of 10509 Tidewater Trail for a motor vehicle accident.
27 year old Megan Eftink was transported to Mary Washington Hospital with life threatening injuries. Ms. Efrink later succumbed to her injuries. The next to kin had been notified.
Reconstruction was conducted by Deputies Brooks and Branham where it was determined that Megan drifted from the roadway onto the very soft shoulder to the right where she over corrected back onto the roadway and struck another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was transported to the Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is undetermined at this point if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor for this accident as well as the deceased was not believed to be wearing a seatbelt. This investigation is still pending with Deputy Branham being the primary investigating unit.
