From the Central Rappahannock Regional Library:
Central Rappahannock Regional Library values our partnerships with schools in our region, and with the school librarians, teachers, and staff who support our area students in their education. Both public and school libraries and librarians are essential components of education.
Even during stressful budgetary seasons, removing or defunding libraries or librarians undermines the very core of learning. We are alarmed by recent statements suggesting that school libraries in Spotsylvania County Public Schools could be at risk, and urge the School Board to reject this possibility to ensure that Spotsylvania County students continue to benefit from the strongest educational system that can be provided.
Additionally, we are concerned that 14 titles, including Nobel, Pulitzer, and National Book award winners, have been removed from Spotsylvania County High School libraries. CRRL will continue to keep all of these titles on our shelves as per our Collection Management Policy.
