Fredericksburg Academy is seeking a Middle School Math Resource Teacher to join our learning community beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. The Math Resource Teacher supports the educational mission of the school by providing support to the math program and by teaching math in a variety of settings to students in sixth through eighth grades. The Math Resource Teacher is responsible for teaching, learning, and assessment of mathematics at Fredericksburg Academy.
Responsibilities
● Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum, teaching methods, and instructional strategies to support the school’s math program
● Plan and implements math lessons that support students in one-on-one and small groups
● Provide short term one-on-one remediation to Lower School and Middle School students as needed
● Observe math classes, as requested by a lead teacher, to provide feedback and suggestions to support individual needs of students
● Provide suggestions and lead enrichment opportunities to provide additional challenge and opportunity for students to engage in more sophisticated math concepts
● Participate in all math department meetings
● Seek professional development opportunities for self and members of the math teaching faculty
● Serve as a Middle School advisor
Requirements and skills
● Bachelor’s degree in education or mathematics from an accredited four- year college or university
● 3 or more years as a classroom teacher
● Understanding of learning differences and teaching strategies for math instruction
● Understanding and/or willingness to train to work with students with dyscalculia
● Deep and broad understanding of mathematics content
● Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and effective listening)
Position Type: Staff
Contract: 10-month, full time, salary commensurate with experience
