by | Feb 19, 2023 | Education

Stafford County Public Schools are participating in African American History Month, recognized annually in February. North Stafford High School (NSHS) and the NSHS Black Student Union (BSU) will host the division’s signature community program, the Annual Black Excellence Celebration, on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and supports BSU activities. Tickets are available online now or may be purchased at the door.

Attendees are invited to shop at the vendor tables from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Most vendors are locally Black-owned businesses, as well as other local and nonprofit organizations. Businesses and organizations interested in participating should contact [email protected] or sign up online.

The ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. and will include multiple demonstrations, performances, and speakers from the local community and schools. The theme will celebrate the contributions of Black professionals as well as acknowledge the significance of non-traditional health and wellness practitioners. Performances include the ASA Fashion Show, Terrice Poem, Brooke Point High School Spiritual Choir, and the North Stafford High School Step Team. This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Stafford County Deputy, author, and entrepreneur Mr. Deuntay Diggs.
